For use with Hiwin linear rail and other manufacturers' rail to lock bearings into a fixed position.
NOT INTENDED FOR DYNAMIC BRAKING!
| Operation summary: Air supply is normally maintained, and the pneumatic piston compresses the spring. Clamp does not contact rail in this condition. When air pressure is relieved, the spring extends and presses on the wedge-shape actuator. In turn, the wedge actuator applies force to the friction material and it contacts the rail. |

By using a 5/2 (overflow-free) or 5/3 valve it is possible to augment the spring power with pneumatic pressure. By using the "PLUS" connection, the standard clamping force will be increased significantly.
When the PLUS connection (MKS only) is being used, the air-release filter is replaced by connecting a second pneumatic tube (see drawing at right).

The MKS has an opening pressure of 5.5bar. Ports are located on both sides of the brake, and that means that the air connection and the air-release filter can be located in either location to facilitate plumbing for the unit.

Adapter plate is required in some applications to elevate the height of the brake mechanism to equal that of the bearing/guide.
